Scalp First: The Basics of Scalp and Hair Care

Scalp & hair

Healthy-looking hair starts at the scalp. The scalp is skin, and it responds to the same principles: gentle cleansing, the right formula for its needs, and consistency.

How to wash

  • Wet hair and scalp thoroughly with lukewarm water.
  • Apply a small amount of shampoo to the scalp, not the ends.
  • Massage with your fingertips, never your nails.
  • Leave the shampoo on for two to three minutes so the formula has time to work, then rinse thoroughly.
  • Dry gently with a towel, pressing rather than rubbing.

Choosing your shampoo

PURETÉFor an oily scalp with visible flakes. The MICROFLORE⁺ complex of salicylic acid, piroctone olamine, niacinamide, panthenol and sodium PCA helps clear visible flakes from the scalp surface and keep it feeling fresh and balanced.
RESTAUREFor hair that feels damaged, weak or rough from heat, coloring or styling. The KERAFIX⁺ complex of hydrolyzed keratin, hydrolyzed wheat protein, maleic acid, arginine and panthenol helps smooth the cuticle and strengthen the feel of each strand.

How often

Wash as often as your scalp needs. An oily scalp may need washing every day or every other day; drier hair may need less. For RESTAURE, three to four washes a week work well. For PURETÉ, follow the schedule on the bottle.

Questions

Can I use PURETÉ and RESTAURE together?

Yes. You can alternate them through the week to care for both the scalp and the lengths.

Why leave shampoo on for a few minutes?

Contact time lets the complex work on the scalp and hair before it is rinsed away.

Are PIQELLE shampoos fragrance-free?

Yes. PURETÉ and RESTAURE contain no added fragrance and are sulfate-free.

Avoid contact with eyes. Speak to a dermatologist about any persistent scalp concern.
